If you are like us, then you are desperately hoping and pleading that “Dexter” somehow manages to right the wrongs of what was a pretty subpar season 6 — even if the final scene with Deb was pretty incredible. So is the following the sort of news you were hoping for? It all depends on how you feel about possible love interests.
First, the news broke via E! News that the Showtime series was casting a character named Hannah that has a “dangerous” past, and could be around for both the seventh and eighth season of the show (at least so long as season is perceived to be the last). Now, we are adding to this some claims by TV Guide that this woman has been trying to move on from her past and stay under the radar — but then Dexter comes along.
While in all likelihood we are looking at a new love interest for Dex (although we still want Lumen to come back), what we would really love to see here is the show make this Hannah into a villain. Season 2 was the last time we saw Dexter encounter a woman with his sort of murderous tendencies in Lila, and that to this day remains the show’s finest hour even more so than Trinity. It just remains far more fascinating to see a new sort of killer than another white male — which were the people leading the charge in seasons 4-6.
Season 7 is projected to begin shooting very soon, with the premiere date coming up this fall. Are you excited? While we’re more cautious about this show after the Travis / Gellar fiasco, we still have our hopes high that this serial killer will deliver.
