Mrs. Carter: The comments on the end of Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray as a couple just keep coming in.
It feels like it was pretty inevitable that someone was going to ask Nick Viall for his thoughts on the big breakup of the former “Bachelorette” and the winner of her season, mostly because of the way in which he ended his time on the show. Everyone had an opinion one way or another on him airing so much of their relationship publicly during the “After the Final Rose” special (we were on Team Nick with it); after all, it has to be pretty devastating to be dealing with falling out love, and also learning that the woman you loved didn’t have the same feelings back that you thought she did. Having all of this play out in front of America is even harder.
When it comes to speaking out about Andi and Josh now, Nick was very sympathetic. In a statement to E! News, he passed along a reminder that the end of any relationship is always hard:
“I was surprised. I feel for them. Heartbreak is tough for anyone, whether you’re engaged or not. It stinks.”
While Chris Soules, the current star of “The Bachelor,” has not officially commented on the split just yet, a “source close to him” (whatever that means in this case) did pass along a message indirectly:
“Chris did actually think they were gonna last … [Chris feels that] Josh is a great guy.”
It probably was in some ways wishful thinking to believe that we would have three out of the last four couples from the show end in success; after all, Sean and Catherine Lowe are still married, and Desiree Hartsock is about to marry Chris Siegfried. Now, we have a situation where there were two successful seasons in a row, and then two that have ended in breakups. We’ll have to see what happens with Chris.
