After a pretty weak season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” the reunion thankfully offered up some sort of redemption. There were shouting matches, accusations, and of course plenty of clip reels to
take up time remind everyone what happened over the course of the season.
Rather than focus on most of this drama, though (who you probably already know by now courtesy of all the preview clips featuring NeNe Leakes fighting with Sheree Whitefield and Kandi Burruss), we actually wanted to focus on something that this reunion show did effectively that many other shows (see the “Jersey Shore” reunions and their canned answers) fail to do — provide some actual updates when it comes to what is currently going on in their lives.
-When it comes to Kandi, her story about finding a new man in Todd was rather sweet, mostly because it happened on the show behind the scenes. She and Todd (who works in production) first started to bond during the trip to Africa during the season, and in the months that followed they sparked up a romantic relationship. Now, the two are getting ready to move in together! While drama is entertaining, so is finding out something genuine that we never saw on the show (especially when so many of these fights are just regurgitation of events that transpired months ago for these ladies).
-Meanwhile, Kim Zolciak revealed that thanks in part to Kroy Biermann signing a new long-term deal with the Atlanta Falcons, she and her husband are getting set to be homeowners! Kim has alternated between being frugal and lavish with her purchases thus far, but this one seems merited since she will be staying in it for much of the foreseeable future.
Overall, we have to say that we really enjoyed the first part of the reunion more than most of the season. While we did feel a little bad for NeNe at times over the massive beatdown she is taking, at least we can say that something happened over the hour, which is more than we can say about most of this season as a whole.
