I watched the last episode with the 2 ex-wives and will have to say that is by far the best of the season. It felt more like the old NCIS from earlier seasons. I was intrigued how they are starting to finally link things together – Russian baddie and all. I’ve been waiting for a while for that. What I’m still waiting for is to find out if the Sergei and Ari Haswari are related. I think they mentioned that someone said that Sergei is half Palestinian and I think Ari was too so would that mean they could be half-brothers?) And I will raise something here – will Ziva make an appearance later to save Gibbs? She killed Ari not Gibbs but I think that everyone but the NCIS team thinks Gibbs did it which could be the reason for the Sergei’s statement – “You messed with my family, now I’m messing with yours”. (People can correct me here if I’m wrong in memory). I’m sorry if I create a bit of a fire storm here but it will be on some people’s minds that’s for sure. I was disappointed that Dinozzo had a minimal role in this episode though. I hope for more next week when Zoe Keates makes another appearance. If Dinozzo and Keates get into a relationship ( I really hope more for these two than just that) and then Ziva returns that will tie in with a hint that Michael made in an earlier post about the “fireworks” that would ensue. Both MW and GG were certain that the characters would cross paths again so time will tell if I’m right or completely out on a limb.

I agree that Tony isn’t given enough to do other than babysitting Bishop. Michael is a really good actor and I’d sure like to see him as Dinozzo really lead in an exciting episode. He could do that while Gibbs in on vacation? (yeah, right – I know!) or is in NO with Agent Pride.

I totally agree with your comments. I’m glad I wasn’t just imagining how disjointed this season feels. In past seasons they did have stand alone eps mixed in with continuing storylines but they were eps that usually added additional info to the storylines at some point. They have gone overboard with the introduction of too many new characters and back stories. I’ve enjoyed some of them but I’m not on the edge of my seat the way I used to be when this show was on. I miss the twists and turns the plots used to have. I also find the so called banter that often occurs between McGee and Dinozzo grating at times and not natural like it used to be. If the mention of Ari just turns out to be a gimmick to draw TIVA and Ziva fans back it will backfire for sure if this storyline isn’t finished. As I said in another post is it a clue for Cote’s eventual return or a entry into a more final write out for Ziva? This combined with the Halloween episode Ziva conversation that Tony and Abby had leaves me feeling a bit mixed up and not sure where they’re heading with this. I’m wondering if the writers are not functioning as a team but operating on more of an individual level and whomever gets the scripts in first that’s what they run with.

Unless the episode turns out to be well written (I’m not going to hold my breath for that), I really don’t have that much interest in another one of Gibbs’ ex wives. That is not a big drawing card for me. I would like to see a continuity of the episodes from one to another. This season seems very choppy because the episodes are stand alones.with not much connection to other eps. To me it seems that TPTB are trying to find gimmicks instead of creating well written episodes.

In ep.1, “Twenty Klicks”, the Russian bad guy Sergei Mishnev was responsible for luring Gibbs to Russia and shooting down the helicopter. There was a mention of a connection of Ari to Mishnev but there was no follow through. We did see the computer guy, Kevin Hussein, return in “House Rules.” Will we see Mishnev again this season? We really had no resolution with Mishnev.. They left us hanging. Will they go back and pick it up later? The mention of Ari brought Ziva to mind. Was that just a gimmick? In previous seasons things fit together much better. This feels very disjointed to me.

So I wonder if whatever big thing happens in this episode that has been spoiled for this episode, and will dominate January episodes, that effects the team will happen to Gibbs or to McGee. They seem to be the only two characters getting any significant stories this season. I miss significant Tony but I guess tptb are far more interested in giving Gibbs and McGee all the big stories, flattery, and drama. Sucks to be a Tony fan. I miss Don Bellasario. He was the last show runner who was allowed to care about Tony.
