We’ve waited for quite a while for this to happen, and now it seems like it finally is: Britney Spears is going to be a judge on “The X Factor” for season 2, at least so long as the final details of the deal don’t end up falling apart.
According to E! News, Britney is in the closing stages of signing the contract, which will pay her the whopping total of $15 million. While there have been conflicting reports about how much Jennifer Lopez was paid for this past season of “American Idol,” the new claims coming out now are that this Britney would be getting more than anyone else on TV to judge a talent show … and this is with some other catches thrown in there.
One of them? Spears’ fiance Jason Trawick is going to become a producer on the show, which should help her to have some form of creative control, especially as she works on adapting her style to reality TV. The biggest question we (as do many) have at the moment is just if Britney is going to be able to deliver strong and occasionally harsh critiques where Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul could not. Is this move a strategy for long-term success, or just a quick flash in the pan for ratings? We’ve always found Britney to be fun and engaging, so we are really hoping to see this work out for her. (Considering the investment Simon Cowell is making here, it better.)
Even though we haven’t seen her judge a single contestant yet, do you think that Britney is worth $15 million to judge this show?
