Since there’s really not too much going on at the moment when it comes to “American Idol” (thanks largely to the fact that the Easter holiday), we are going to skip the “notes” for Monday morning in lieu of a rather interesting (if surprising) story involving Phillip Phillips.
While it is still unclear if this would actually happen, Stefan Lessard from the Dave Matthews Band followed up a message on Twitter Sunday by telling him the following:
“S–t dude, I would perform with you on Idol! Show Randy some chops”
For those wondering the correlation here between Phillip and Dave Matthews, it’s pretty simple — Phillip has been compared to the guy more times that we can count at this point, and it led to so many people relentlessly spamming Lessard about it that this communication even began.
If Lessard did manage to get on stage with Phillip, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time we saw a legendary musician get on stage to help an artist — after all, we saw it last season with James Durbin. When it comes to Phillip, though, this could be especially helpful in getting him to understand more about what it means to be a performer — which he has struggled with in recent weeks. While Matthews is in a similar vein, his band still finds a way to perform in ways that are not giving every song the same exact vibe. We know he has it in him after both his audition and Hollywood Week — now, we need to see it come back.
How excited would you be to see something like this happen on Wednesday’s performance show? For those who have not yet heard, the remaining seven singers will perform a track from the decade so far.
