Mrs Carter: How are you ‘hard to get’ when you’re married?
When a woman gets married, they’ve likely gone through years of being someone’s girlfriend before finally reaching the finish line and snagging the title of wife, but for ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star Melissa Gorga, she thinks the girlfriend title is just what a marriage needs sometimes to keep the fires burning.
Melissa has been married to her husband Joe Gorga for eight years now and while some couples find it difficult to keep their marriage spicy, Melissa learned a few tricks to keep Joe’s motor running. The ‘On Display’ singer revealed to US Weekly that she still plays “hard to get” with Joe and that helps keep his interest.
Another trick that Melissa uses is to pretend that she’s not married to Joe, and pretend that she is his girlfriend instead of his wife. She said; “Every once in a while, I act like I’m his girlfriend and he can’t have me. Men want what they can’t have. When is everyone going to realize this?”
It’s true that men (and women for that matter) want what they can’t have, but at the same time there are a lot of men that don’t want to lose their wife and go back to having a girlfriend. Also what difference does it really make if you have a wife or a girlfriend – the high commitment level is still the same, so you’re not really playing all that hard to get in the role of girlfriend either because you are still in a committed relationship.
If the woman has to pretend that they aren’t married to get attention from their husband then should this couple really be married at all since it seems that not being married is the real turn on? And how long will it be before the ‘pretend girlfriend’ isn’t enough, what’s next a real girlfriend and his wife? So we have to ask – when is it time to stop pretending and start living?
