At this point, the fact that Lisa Vanderpump was creating a “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” spin-off show was one of the worst-kept secrets around. It was first hinted at in the fall, but the initial reports coming out at the time were that Bravo had opted to pass on the series.
Now, we’re happy to say that those rumors about Bravo saying “no” are far from true. At the network’s upfront presentation Wednesday, it was confirmed that the show tentatively titled “SUR” would be given a chance. Unlike “Bethenny Ever After,” this is not meant to be a show that takes over Lisa’s “Real Housewives” gig and focuses on her full life. Instead, it will center in on the operation of one of her newest (and most-popular) restaurants. Think of it as “The Pauly D Project,” but with a wealthy woman on the west coast and her dog.
Lisa will be returning to “Beverly Hills” for a third season, along with every other series regular outside of Camille Grammer. The good news about Lisa’s gig is that it can only really add to her success — there’s no risk that if it fails she will be off the flagship show, and it will only help to put her restaurant on the map even more.
For those curious about some other Bravo news, the network has finally greenlit the long-rumored “Life After Top Chef” — which is really just going to consist of us staring at fancy food without the competitive outfit. (This show may be the worst thing ever for our grocery budget.)
In going back to Lisa, do you think this spin-off series is a smart idea?
