If you love Sofia Vergara (or One Direction), this is probably going to be the episode of “Saturday Night Live” that you are looking forward to more than any other this season. Will it be funny? Based on the promo below, it could be. (Then again, we’ve also learned that “SNL” promos are in no way an indication of whether or not a show will be funny. It’s all about the material.)
Based on the promo video below, there are going to be a number of challenges for both actors. When it comes to Vergara, we are hoping that the show will give the “Modern Family” star a chance to actually showcase some range. Far too often she is pigeonholed into playing various forms of Gloria, and we’re sure that this will happen in at least one sketch this weekend. She’s quite good at slapstick, so we are hoping that she moves mostly in this direction.
As for the “X Factor” UK standouts, the boys (who tragically are not featured in the promo) are going to have to contend with performing on a stage that has swallowed up vocalists in the past, and also does not give them much room to work with. They are also going to be transitioning from performing in front of thousands of screaming fans to a relatively small studio audience. This will really be the first time since their “X Factor” days that they have been put in this situation.
What do you think of this video, and are you excited for the show as a whole?
