It may be news that we all saw coming, but that doesn’t make it any less thrilling — “Bones” is coming back!
In a statement Thursday, Fox network head Kevin Reilly made the announcement, and of course praised just about every person he could in the process:
“Over the past seven seasons, Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan and the incredible ‘Bones’ cast and crew have redefined the traditional crime procedural with an irreverent and adventurous sensibility and I’m really happy to have this distinctive, fan-favorite on our schedule for another season.”
Really, there were a number of factors that made this renewal all the more obvious, from the show’s own ratings to the fact that so many other Fox shows are going down the tubes. On the drama front, “Terra Nova” and “House” are already ending, and “Fringe” and “Alcatraz” are likely to join them. With “Breaking In” and “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” already as close to canceled as canceled can be, “Bones” (along with “Glee,” “New Girl,” and presumably “Touch” if the ratings hold) is among the few scripted shows for the network that scores well in terms of ratings. (Other shows, including “Raising Hope” and “The Finder,” are very much on the bubble.)
After a lengthy hiatus, “Bones” will be back on the air Monday night for what will presumably be the long-awaited birth scene. (You can check out a promo for it below.)
