‘American Idol’ notes: David Archuleta, Adam Lambert, and Haley Reinhart

There’s some big stories breaking concerning “American Idol” this afternoon, and we are going to begin with a video that brought us close to tears.
David’s sad goodbye – David Archuleta posted his last video on Wednesday before departing on his two-year Mormon mission, and it may be one of the saddest things we have ever seen from the season 7 runner-up.
There were a number of major themes that came out through the video, but more than anything David said that he was grateful to his fans not only for their support, but also their respect. Not everyone out there would be thrilled to see their idol go MIA for two years doing work in Latin America, but by and large the Archuleta fans have been behind him every step of the way.
You could see by the end of this that David was on the verge of tears himself as he said “God bless” and “take care” to the camera. There will be some new music coming out in the coming two years, and it will be fascinating to see what sort of stories and inspiration David has upon his return.
Adam’s Queen gig over? – If you love Adam Lambert — and were hoping to see him perform with Queen at Knebworth’s Sonisphere Festival in July — the following news is probably going to disappoint you.
In a statement on Queen’s official site, the news was first handed down, and ticket sales are believed to be the reason behind the move:
“It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012.”
There are still moving parts with this story, and there are reports that all other Sonisphere festivals have also been canceled. (However, promoters have yet to confirm the news.) When it comes to Adam news, all you should know is that the performance with Queen on June 30 in Moscow (which is not affiliated with Sonisphere) is still set to go on as planned.
Haley’s “90210” video – There’s not too much to say here, but we thought that it would be nice to close things off with the performance / scene from Haley Reinhart on “90210” Tuesday night.
If you love “Free,” then you’re really just going to be happy to hear the song again. Otherwise, get ready to admire Haley’s acting chops! She really holds her own here with Jessica Lowndes.

David’s sweet and touching video blog was so heartfelt. I will miss him a lot but am happy he is following his heart, he has a lot of courage and conviction. He is an amazing young man and the number one artist for me. Wish him much peace and happiness and will definitely be here for him when he returns. #DA2014

I’m one of David Archuleta’s fans and cried my eyes out when I saw his “It’s Not Goodbye” video!! He is such an amazing young man and for someone to put their lives on hold for 2 years to serve a mission, shows what kind of character he has! I will miss him so much but I’m happy he is doing something he has wanted to do for so long!!

It is my understanding that it will be the QUEEN Tribute band that will be appearing in the US/Canada this summer … Roger Taylor is the one that is in charge of that group. I believe these are musicians that were chosen from auditioning sessions. They are a new group of musicians called QUEEN Extravaganza … I believe … could be wrong tho’.

Thanks for the mention about David. Such a nice guy. I love his voice and he’s a great human being. He is always kind, honest and humble. In just the last 10 weeks alone he did an amazing amount of stuff for the fans – he was filmed as leading man in a 5-week Philippines miniseries Nandito Ako (subtitled DVD set is in the works), recorded a Philippines album Forevermore (available at Amazon, WOWHD and Multiply) and an upcoming music video for that (to premiere soon). He was working on a new US album of classic? songs through last night (at least in part produced by Kurt Bestor and John Hancock). And he did several photoshoots too. A very busy guy making sure stuff was left for his fans. He’s DavidArchie on twitter and it sounds like that’s where his manager Kari will post any messages from David. I’ll really miss him. But he’s in my heart. David’s fans are very loyal and we”ll be here #DA2014

I was pretty emotional myself when watching David’s (not)goodbye video. I will miss his tweets and vlogs but I’m happy he’s doing what he needs to do and that he still has new music coming out while he’s gone.

Really sorry to hear about the Sonisphere cancellation. I’m not sure I understand all the details about the Sonispere, but I’m understanding that the entire Sonisphere is cancelled, not just Queen’s/Adam’s act. There was a tour schedule posted for a Queen U.S. tour, but no mention of who is singing in that. I’d be interested in any info about that. Of particular interest to me where venues listed in two Texas cities.

Will Queen and Adam still be doing a concert in Moscow? Maybe Queen and Adam could do a couple of concerts in the U.S.
