Haley Reinhart talks ‘90210’, new album and ‘American Idol’

Catch her on ‘90210’ tonight

As much as we love seeing new faces on this season of ‘American Idol’, it’s also been really great seeing some old familiar faces we miss like Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart.

Last week Haley fans had a chance to see her back on the Idol stage, performing her new hit single ‘Free’ from her upcoming album ‘Listen Up!’.  Not only did the audience get a chance to hear her new single, but Reinhart also handed out a few advance copies of her debut album.  Haley spoke to USA Today about returning to ‘American Idol’ and how nice it was to see all of the familiar faces smiling at her.  She said;

“I loved being able to walk in the doors and see smiling, familiar faces. They had a lot of really nice words, and they were really excited. They had heard there was a lot of exciting stuff going on, so they were proud of me and happy to have me back.”

Haley’s new single ‘Free’ is getting a huge publicity push right now and along with her performance of the track on Idol, she will be singing the song on tonight’s episode of ‘90210’ where she will be playing herself.  She said;

“I got to perform Free and then had a few lines in there — a pretty good amount, a scene with the character Adrianna.  It was fun –- a little taste of what I hope is more to come.”

One of the great things about Haley’s new album is that she had a hand in writing almost every song (with the exception of ‘Free’) which really helped make the album a piece that she can be proud of and something fans will easily be able to relate to.  She said;

“It all has the sultry feel, very retro but yet modern at the same time. Things travel between rock and funk and jazz, but it all has a sort of continuity with pop undertones. It does feel like a collection to me.”

Haley’s debut album ‘Listen Up!’ will be hitting store shelves on May 22, and you can also pre-order it through her official website.  Make sure you tune in tonight to see Haley on ‘90210’ on the CW at 9 p.m.
