The animal rights group PETA has always had some strong celebrity endorsement behind the organization, but it looks like the group is losing one of their key endorsements, Khloe Kardashian.
Last week, Kim Kardashian got flour bombed by an unknown assailant while at a red carpet event to protest Kim wearing fur in the past. PETA claimed that they were not tied to the flour bomber or the red carpet stunt, but in the end the perpetrator was unmasked by TMZ and turned out to be Christina Cho who has been involved with the organization.
Gossip Cop spoke to a representative from PETA about Cho and the flour stunt and they said; “The police can likely confirm who it was but we have no confirmation on who it was.”
Kim’s sister, Khole, who has been a huge PETA supporter and even appeared in their ad campaigns feels that PETA was involved in the stunt and is furious that the organization would use ‘bullying’ tactics to get their message across. Khloe posted a message on her official website announcing that she has cut her ties with PETA calling them ‘bullies’ – a huge loss for the organization. Here is what she wrote;
“Hi dolls. I’m sure you all heard what happened to Kim last week (thank you SO much for the love and support you all showed her), and I just received word that the woman responsible has very close ties to PETA, despite PETA publicly stating otherwise.”
“Not only has PETA lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behavior. I’ve been a vocal supporter of PETA for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me. As you all know, I don’t condone violence and bullying and what happened last Thursday was just that.”
“I am absolutely disgusted by their behavior. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions — I personally don’t wear fur but that doesn’t mean I am going to force my views on anyone else, ESPECIALLY by violating them. I am a very proud sister right now, because Kim handled last week’s incident like a champ. She got cleaned up and was back out there in a matter of minutes. Go Kimmie!”
“We all need to practice what we preach. I will still continue to NOT wear fur, but I will no longer support PETA. Bullying and harassment is NEVER a solution, and I won’t be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise.”
When the stunt originally took place, Kim wasn’t sure if she was going to press charges or not, while PETA took the stance that Kim was being ‘selfish’ and told her to ‘get a life’. Kardashian has now decided that she may press charges after all.
Do you think Kim should press charges? Do you think that activists are taking things too far with these stunts? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think.
