NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Did Beth Spangler, Mia Pfirrman, Anita Antoinette advance?
Finally, we come with great news when it comes to “The Voice“: Tonight is the end of the Battles! Given how much the ratings fell last night, that should be a sign that we’re not alone in how we feel this part of the competition is boring.
Luckily, some good performances and Gwen Stefani having a steal in play still made tonight’s one-hour episode worth watching.
Brittany Butler vs. Ricky Manning, “On Broadway” (Pharrell) – An interesting song choice, and we wish that we could get into the performance ultimately more than we did. Ricky was also a controversial choice by Pharrell; Brittany was more interesting, but with her emotion at the end of this, we wonder whether or not she would have been able to handle the competition in the first place. Ricky wins.
Kensington Moore vs. Reagan James, “Team” (Blake Shelton) – Who would have imagined that Blake would have picked such a current song for two singers? It actually worked really well, too! Reagan was the better of the two, and we didn’t feel nearly as upset about what happened here. Reagan wins.
We had a montage that followed all of this up, and while we don’t care about most of us (why should we if the show montaged it?), it was nice to see that Anita Antoinette is going to be in the next round.
Beth Spangler vs. Mia Pfirrman, “I Turn To You” (Adam Levine) – The final battle, and while both were very good, we hate the way the show edits the final part of this round. It was obvious that Gwen would steal whoever lost. Therefore, no real drama at all. Mia wins, Gwen steals Beth.
