Jimmy Kimmel to host 64th Primetime Emmy Awards

He’s hosting the Emmy Awards

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards have been busy securing the details of their show and this year they have decided to bring on a brand new host  – someone who is perfectly suited for the job.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will be stepping up to the plate and taking a swing as host of the Emmy Awards this year. Kimmel has never hosted the Emmy Awards before, but the newcomer feels confident that he will do a great job.  He said; “I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars.”

Although Kimmel may not have hosted the Emmy’s before, the comedian has a stacked resume of hosting gigs as he was the host of the American Music Awards, the ESPY Awards and will be hosting the White House Correspondents’ dinner in April.

ABC has also revealed that Don Mischer (director, producer of the 2012 Academy Awards) will be the executive producer for the Emmy Awards telecast again this year, making it Mischer’s 12th time in the hot seat.  He said; “We love television and look forward to working with the television academy and ABC in creating a show that is fast-paced, humorous, unpredictable, and at times irreverent, but clearly celebratory of our incredible industry.”

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 23 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
