(Note: this is a special edition of “American Idol” notes — specifically for the all the season 8 fans out there! Check below for a Kris Allen announcement to go with Adam’s new acoustic jam.)
Over the weekend, Adam Lambert showed off a brand-new song while in Portland, Oregon, and it’s one that lyrically may be one of the best off of his entire album “Trespassing” (which, just in case your forgot how unlikely that may be, comes out in stores on May 15).
The track is entitled “Never Close Our Eyes,” and it is one of the songs that we heard a studio snippet for this past week. The acoustic version almost feels like a different song when it comes to its overall feel, as it takes what is a club track and makes it into something soulful and emotional.
This song was written by one of Adam’s favorite recent artists in Bruno Mars, and could actually be even more radio-friendly than we originally gave it credit. Check out the entire video for the acoustic song below! (Thanks to Mjsbigblog for bringing this video to our attention.)
In what is a sign that there may be more good music coming from season 8 than any other “Idol” family at the moment, we also thought we’d throw in here that Kris Allen’s “The Vision of Love” is now available on iTunes. (We’re wondering if he regrets his choice in release dates now that Justin Bieber is taking over the internet in “Boyfriend.”) The song already has both Adam and our seals of approval — it’s catchy and shows off a different dimension to Kris’ voice than we’ve seen on some of his previous singles.
What do you think about Adam’s acoustic version of this song? Over course, check back as always for more “Idol” news!
