‘Mad Men’ star January Jones found returning to work ‘tough’

She's back to work.

Mrs Carter: Who wants to work when you have a sweet faced baby at home to cuddle up with?

It was only about seven weeks after January Jones gave birth to her baby boy, Xander, before the actress made her way back to the set of AMC’s ‘Mad Men’ to begin work on the fifth season and with Xander still being so young, Jones found the transition back to work ‘tough’.

During a recent interview with People Magazine, Jones said that although going back to work early was difficult, the ‘Mad Men’ team did everything they could to made it ‘comfortable’ for her.  She said;

“[It] was tough with the long days. But work made it really comfortable for me. Every season I have a little kind of first day of school nerves. The first episode I’m always finding my way back into my character’s shoes. … But then after a few days, I’m able to fall pretty easily back into her, and find her voice and her body language and everything that I do for her.

January’s character of Betty Draper, now Betty Francis, has been known for her fashion sense on the show and Jones reveled that while production didn’t change Betty’s style to match up with January’s post baby body, Betty’s style has evolved.  She said;

“We didn’t do anything specifically for me because of my post-baby [body], but Betty’s had style evolution. I think especially since she’s been married to Henry Francis and has become a politician’s wife, she’s made a change in her look. [the costume designer] consciously made a decision to change her silhouette. Betty likes to play dress up, so instead of molding herself after a Grace Kelly or a movie star, she’s wearing things that she thinks a Jackie Kennedy would wear.”

The premiere of the fifth season of ‘Mad Men’ will be airing tonight with a special two hour episode, so be sure to tune in to AMC to catch all the drama.
