‘The Hobbit’: first photo revealed of Thorin Oakenshield

Over the past few weeks, we have slowly and surely gotten a chance to check out a few photos from the upcoming adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein’s “The Hobbit” — otherwise known as one of the most-anticipated movies on 2011.

we have had quite the opportunity to check out a number of dwarves from the Peter Jackson film — and now, TheOneRing.net had the opportunity to debut the first picture of Thorin Oakenshield from the movie. Thorin is the prince who is in many ways the leader of the dwarven expedition to battle Smaug, and he also is the most heavily-featured character in the book. (However, they may show Gloin prominently in the film since he is the father of Gimli from “Lord of the Rings.”)

“The Hobbit” is set to hit theaters in two installments — with the first (subtitled “An Unexpected Journey”) coming in December 2012. (The next, “There and Back Again,” will be released the following year.)
