When it comes to “Community,” we know that the ratings are always going to be a talking point. However, the newest numbers may not be something to be too concerned about when it comes to the show getting renewed.
Overall, the gang from Greendale Community College scored a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down five-tenths from the 2.2 rating that it scored upon its spring premiere last week. This number is about even to what “Parks and Recreation” was scoring before it went on its spring hiatus, and is still higher than what the show was pulling before the hiatus. It was also the highest-rated show of the night for NBC Thursday,
There are a couple of things to note here in terms of competition — while the biggest “Community” threat in “The Big Bang Theory” was not on the air, it was still against “American Idol” and the sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, which receives far more attention than the round of 64 that was going on last week.
So why are we still so confident about season 4? Comedy Central recently acquired the off-network rights to the series, and we know that studio Sony is going to be pushing to get the show another season for syndication purposes.
What do you think about this week’s numbers?
