After Jon Hamm’s controversial comments about Kim Kardashian (and reality stars in general), Kim decided to take the high road and not lash out at Hamm, but her BFF Jonathan Cheban isn’t holding back any punches.
During an interview with ELLE UK, the ‘Mad Men’ star went off on a tangent about Kardashian and the reality television culture. He said; “Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a [expletive] idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture.” He later clarified his comment, but didn’t apologize, saying that the comments weren’t meant to be a personal attack, but that they were accurate.
Kim released a statement saying that she didn’t agree with him and kept her comments highbrow, but now Cheban is speaking out about Hamm and told US Weekly that the ‘Mad Men’ star needs to “shut up”. He said;
“I think Jon Hamm needs to just shut up and stop being such a mad man! He needs to mind his own business, because Kim works hard. They do different things –it’s a whole different world. Put Jon Hamm in a mall, and more people will go up to the people working at the Burger King than they will to him. Bring Kim to a mall and there will be a riot. They’re in two different businesses. Kim’s pop culture and what people like. It’s a lot of work, and she’s here to stay. Let’s see where he is after Mad Men.”
Ouch! While Kim clearly proved that she has staying power after managing to swim through the media frenzy concerning her divorce from Kris Humphries and is still on top of her game, Jon Hamm isn’t exactly a flash in the pan either as he goes into the fifth season of ‘Mad Men’. They both have very different audiences, but have proven to be powerful in each of their respective arenas.
Do you agree with Hamm’s original comments? Do you think Kim did the right thing by not lashing out at Jon? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think.
