‘Jersey Shore’: The Situation (finally) explains rehab trip

The new explanation.

For those of you wanting some sort of definitive answer as to the condition of Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino concerning his trip to rehab, you’re now getting it from the man himself.

In a new post on his official site, the “Jersey Shore” star did his best to explain that he has checked into a facility to deal with an addiction to prescription medication — and not drugs, as it is being reported elsewhere:

“I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”

So is this really the truth about Mike’s condition? It’s hard to say, but we’re not really in the business of trying to hypothesize over a reality star who is clearly going through more trouble than many people care to realize. All we really hope is that he was able to watch this past season of the show back, and realize that he was suffering some problems that led to him being excessively negative as well as paranoid.

For all of you who love the “Shore,” it’s hard to argue just how much he is needed. We are at the point now where no one else is really interested in causing drama, and you have to have an instigator to do some of the dirty work (like it or not). What would you rather see — Ronnie and Sammi gushing all over each other (even if they’re not together anymore), or Mike trying to get Snooki to throw more random kitchen items at him.

Do you think Mike made the right move by actually speaking out about the problem?
