If you have been following our site for some time, then you are already well aware of some of the thoughts we have about Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. Through the first three season of “Jersey Shore,” we loved the guy. He was thoroughly entertaining, hilarious, and would bring plenty of drama to go along without it.
However, something happened before the start of season 4, and we can’t quite place it. We know that Mike went through some turmoil in his personal life, and he just seemed like an unhappy person intent on both ruining Snooki’s relationship with Jionni LaValle and causing trouble for everyone without the fun. Whatever the reason was for Mike’s sudden change in attitude, he was hardly the same character that we came to love early on.
According to TMZ, we do know now that The Situation is trying to improve his own situation before season 6 starts airing — and while a rep for the reality star is not confirming that he is in treatment, they are saying that he is receiving help for some issues related to exhaustion and stress:
“[Mike] has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule.”
There are claims that The Situation is getting treatment for substance abuse-related issues, but there is no confirmation on this just yet. With filming for season 6 starting up this summer, it is possible that he is hoping to get whatever problems he has under control so that he does not come across as negative during filming this time around. (We can only hope so.)
While we are sure that there will be some people who react cynically to the news about this stay in rehab, we do hope that he can find a way to potentially make a positive out of what are currently just headlines.
What’s your reaction to The Situation’s reported rehab stay? (Update: The Situation has now tweeted “don’t believe everything you read or hear,” but did not elaborate on the nature of this rumor.)
