Only a matter of hours after we dismissed the idea of “Jersey Shore” actually bringing back its cast for another season, MTV has just went and proved us wrong with a major announcement.
In a new press release, it has been announced that not only will a sixth season of the “Shore” film this summer in Seaside Heights, but that the entire cast will be coming back — including Snooki, who is probably going to be set to give birth near the end of the summer.
So how does the network justify their decision to bring Snooki back? By saying that Snooki can still have fun while getting ready to give birth:
“Being a baby mama doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun in the sun … While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same.”
While Snooki having a baby in itself is enough of an issue to question her coming back, the reason we’ve been championing a major shake-up is because watching season 5 was at times the equivalent of watching paint dry. Half of the cast was in a serious relationship, and with Deena dating mostly just one guy the show quickly became the same thing over and over again. Meanwhile, the primary storyline of the entire season — The Situation telling Jionni about a supposed fling he had with Snooki — never really went anywhere; as for Ronnie and Sammi, the two were pretty much ghosts without them fighting or causing any problems with each other.
Do you think bringing this show back with the full cast is a mistake, or are you excited to see a very-pregnant Snooki engage in some fun in the sun?
