Like with most of this season, we really wish there was more that happened during Sunday night’s new episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Instead, what we saw mostly was the ladies doing their own thing without too much interaction with one another.
Was there an exception? Yes, as we saw Kandi Burruss and Kim Zolciak finally trying to move forward from the “African baby” comments, even if it came via Kandi deflecting some of the blame on her fellow cast member Cynthia Bailey. These two seemingly are now friends again, though we are still interested in seeing how this situation will unfold at the reunion (which has now already been taped).
So in the mess of relatively uneventful content and no drama, there’s really only so much we got out of the rest of the episode:
-We saw NeNe Leakes pondering over the end of her divorce proceedings with Gregg, which is at least easy to relate to in that it is something that many people in her situation face an emotionally struggle with.
-Marlo Hampton finally apologized to Lawrence for using a homophobic word earlier this season, which was really only notable in that she ended up having to backtrack from what she said previously about the subject.
-Phaedra Parks threw a massive birthday party for Ayden, and by “massive” we mean having twelve different cakes. Why does a child need twelve cakes? On a different note, why does a child need four party planners? As ridiculous as it is, we always do love watching these ladies try to one-up each other when it comes to some of their parties.
-After her drama with Kim was resolved, we did see Kandi work in a situation that was both in her element and outside of her wheelhouse. While it was nice to learn about her working with Jodi, it wasn’t exactly something we haven’t seen before.
With some romance coming up next week courtesy of Kim, it looks as though we may at least have a more interesting conclusion to this season than what we saw this week. Did you feel it was a bit lacking in the drama department?
