We have a pair of new pair of stories pertaining to “The X Factor,” and one of them especially comes across as a bit of a jaw-dropper.
Let’s begin, though, with something that most of us saw coming — Chris Rene getting an opportunity to perform “Young Homie” on a talk show. Joined by his mentor L.A. Reid, Rene took to the stage on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday to perform the full version of the song for the first time. He seemed to be a tad stronger vocally than he was on Simon Cowell’s over-the-top competition this past fall, and the performance will definitely please anyone who loved hearing the song the first time. We really just wish that the show actually gave Chris some time to talk some more about his journey, since that is really part of his appeal.
Check out the video of Chris’ performance below!
What about Darren? – Now, we turn to the news that certainly surprised us. According to a new report from E! News, “Glee” star Darren Criss was approached about being one of the two hosts for season two … but he politely declined.
If you’re looking for a reason why, a source claims that Darren really wants to spend his downtime focusing on music and performing rather than hosting a talent competition. While his role in season four of “Glee” has not necessarily been confirmed, we assume that Blaine Anderson will be back — after all, he is a journey at McKinley High and is not graduating yet. (The commitment to “Glee” in itself — which requires sometimes work days of longer than 12 hours — may be enough to keep Darren away from this show.)
We know that Simon is looking for a man and a woman to co-host the gig, and he is not necessarily hoping to find someone with prior hosting experience so much as he is a perfect fit.
As always, check back soon for more “X Factor” news!
