We are going country for this edition of “American Idol” notes, in addition to focusing on a pair of winners and there various accomplishments.
Carrie’s new video – First and foremost, we have to talk about Carrie Underwood’s new music video for “Good Girl” — a song that once again seems to be reinforcing the season 4 champ’s trend of combining traditional country music with pop and a little bit of fashion.
While the song itself may not be reinventing the wheel, it’s catchy stuff — as we like that the video is not something you would expect. It feels almost at times like you are watching someone have a fashion show in front of their own mirror … and we mean that in the most awesome way imaginable. It’s so colorful and vibrant, which is exactly what you want from a song like this.
Carrie’s full album “Blown Away” hits stores on May 1, and we would be shocked to see her not visit the “Idol” stage at some point this season to promote it.
Scotty returns to his roots – If there is one thing that has impressed us about Scotty McCreery just as much as his vocal ability, it is seeing the man not wander far from his home of Garner, North Carolina — even to the point where he’s still taking part in his high school sports team.
Scotty Saturday pitched his first game in over a year with the hometown Trojans, and he actually did pretty well in striking out a pair of batters and not allowing a run during his time in the game during the seventh inning. After his team ended up losing 8-7, the season 10 champ said to the Charlotte Observer that he was really just happy to be involved:
“It feels good just to come out here and just get back on the field. I thought my curveball worked well. But today was just about the team. I’m glad to help out the team in any way possible.”
Does it impress you that Scotty is doing his best to stay normal?
