For those of you wondering just when Emily Maynard is going to be handing out some roses as “The Bachelorette” this spring, it looks as though ABC is not going to try and waste too much time washing away some of the bad memories from Bed Flajnik’s season from our mouths.
Following the end of Ben Flajnik’s season, the show announced that Emily’s show will kick off on Monday, May 14 — presumably after the new episode of “Dancing with the Stars.” This is presumably a smart strategy to try and capitalize on the lead-in in order to get some higher ratings, especially since on the surface Emily has the potential to bring a nicer, kinder energy to a show that delved into nasty territory for the past few months.
Taping is set to start for the show soon, and never has there really been such speculation about a contestant before a season than what is currently going on with Bentley Williams. In case you don’t remember, Bentley may be the one person fans hate more than Courtney Robertson, as he spent much of last summer pretending to like Ashley Hebert while at the same time wishing that Emily was the leading lady.
So is Bentley actually going to be on the show? It depends on when you ask him. In a post on his Twitter account in early February (just after Emily said she would give him a chance if he wanted to be on her season), the show’s most controversial male contestant ever suggested that he did not want to be at the mercy of the producers after he was edited so poorly (at least per his estimations) last time:
“It’s a set up, trust me. They want vengeance. I’ll pass”
However, Bentley then tweeted on Monday night that he was planning to take “a little trip” and for everyone to wish him luck. Is he just messing with people? It’s possible, but it’s not that far out of the ordinary (even if he is changing his mind) that we would see Bentley on the show. This could be his chance at redemption … or at least as much of it as he can get when it comes to handing out roses and getting individual dates.
Are you planning to watch Emily’s season, and would you be happy or sad to see Bentley on board?
