Schedule notes: ‘Dexter’ premiere, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ finale

The show returns September 30.

There’s quite a bit of news coming out at the moment regarding beginnings and ednings, and we’re going to start here with some news pertaining to Showtime.

On Monday, it was announced that season 7 of “Dexter” will kick off on Sunday, September 30 in its familiar timeslot of 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. (The season 2 premiere of “Homeland” will follow.) We can only hope that this season has a better grasp on some of the stories that it is telling, and does not also use a lame twist as a plot devise a la Professor Gellar being a figment of Travis Marshall’s imagination. (After “The Sixth Sense,” this sort of thing really doesn’t fool us anymore.)

The good news? With Deb actually seeing Dexter plunge a knife into Travis’ heart, there is no way that the writers can complain about a lack of material.

Meanwhile, ABC has announced their full list of season and series finales for this coming spring, so check out the full list below. Of note: “Desperate Housewives” gets the opportunity to say goodbye via a two-hour finale, and “Cougar Town” is also going to receive a full hour. (All times are EST.)
