Warning: If you have not yet seen Sunday night’s new episode of “The Walking Dead,” now is the time to run as far as possible away from this computer screen … almost like there is a zombie chasing you, no?
With that spoiler warning in mind, prepare to read on…
So many of us knew that this was coming. First, the word came out that Jon Bernthal had been cast in the upcoming TNT pilot “L.A. Noire” by original “Dead” showrunner Frank Darabont, and then AMC accidentally revealed via their own online store that Shane was going to singing his swan song sooner rather than later.
Even with all of this, the final sequences for Shane were still breathtaking. The showdown between him and Rick was almost straight out of some sort of post-Apocalyptic Western, and the only thing that made this better was seeing Carl (who was not exactly on Team Rick at first) being the one to fire a bullet at Shane’s zombie as he rose.
In this vital moment, we learned something incredibly significant in that these survivors — alive as they may be — may already be infected. Of course, getting rid of Shane in the penultimate episode does pose a few major questions about how the last episode can up the ante — but speaking to TVLine, source writer Robert Kirkman revealed that we will find out what Jenner whispered to Rick during the season 2 finale in a week. (Does this ramp up the anticipation to a new level? Definitely.)
Now that Shane is gone, how do you feel about what happened? Feel free to take our poll below!
