“Castle” was in the spotlight Friday at the Paley Center for Media its PaleyFest panel discussion, and some of the details shared are probably going to make fans of the Rick / Kate relationship very happy. Why? We all assume that these two will be sealing the deal eventually … and there is some sort of plan in place to ensure that it happens.
During the panel, the audience cheered in delight pretty much any time that the idea of Castle and Beckett getting together was mentioned, and Nathan Fillion (who was as sly — and awesome — as he typically is during such events) explained that things will unfold rather delicately in the months ahead:
“I think it’s played out very well — it’s been tastefully and artfully dealt with — but I don’t think it’s something that can be done forever. Andrew has shared his plan, and it’s deft.”
Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that anything will happen at all for the show before season 4 comes to a close. However, there is still one thing that you can expect to happen for sure this year. Remember the secrets that Castle and Beckett are keeping from each other? Those are going to come out before things come to a close this year, and the ramifications are going to be huge.
As for some other highlights from the panel, you can check out some of the following notes:
-When it comes to the revelation via Jennifer Beals’ Sophia that Castle’s father was in the CIA, Fillion says that it’s hard to completely trust anything that this character (who was revealed to be a spy) says — however, the show is going to explore this story at some point during the rest of the series.
-On the subject of Beckett and Castle’s first potential love scene, Fillion joked that he wanted it to be very “clumsy,” with stuff flying all over the place. Showrunner Andrew W. Marlow, meanwhile, said that it is going to be exciting to write for the two characters together since it “opens up the possibilities of all sorts of stories” that they were unable to cover beforehand.
-When it comes to Adam Baldwin coming on board the show as a detective that Castle ends up shadowing while Beckett is away, Fillion says that the character’s last name (in Slaughter) is really all that you need to know.
