‘American Idol’ alumni notes: Adam Lambert, David Archuleta lead the way

In the middle of this lovely March weekend, there is still quite a bit happening when it comes to “American Idol,” and this time we really are spanning multiple corners of the world in looking at some of the headlines.
Adam Lambert’s new remixes – We’ll start with a brief headline from the world of Adam, mostly because it’s always exciting to find out about some new music — even when some of this music just so happens to be remixes of his current single.
In a new post on his WhoSay page, Adam teased that an upcoming collection of remixes for “Better than I Know Myself” were coming out soon, and he also shared the cover to them below. We have no idea what they sound like just yet, but we’ll be happy so long as the infectious hook for the song is still there.

Archie’s traditional music – David Archuleta fans know that the season 7 runner-up has been spending a great bit of time in the Philippines as of late leading up to his departure for his Mormon mission. Before he leaves, though, he is planning to release an album of traditional Filipino music. Nine out of the ten songs below on “Forevermore” are in English, and there are also three “bonus” minus-one tracks in addition to the ones listed:
1. Forevermore
2. Rainbow
3. I’ll never go
4. You Are My Song
5. Hold On
6. Wherever You Are
7. Maybe
8. Tell Me
9. Reaching Out
10. Nandito Ako
In full, the album should be hitting stores in the Philippines later this month. There’s no word on if there will be an American release, but Odyssey Music is selling pre-orders through their stores and online for people in that region.
“Idol” ratings – For those interested in seeing specifically how “Idol” is faring as a whole now that we are in the final live shows, the answer is “great, but not at the same level as they were years ago.” The show scored a 4.9 rating in the ad-friendly 18-49 demographic along with over 17 million viewers. While the viewer count was tops for Thursday night, “The Big Bang Theory” defeated it in the demo with a 5.1. (Translation = “Idol” is not the hit with young people that it used to be.)
Casey James on “Ellen” – Finally, thanks to Mjsbigblog for uncovering that Casey James will be a guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” March 21. Casey is on his way to releasing a new album, and he and Ellen were both a part of season 9.

I’ve been waiting for a dance remix of Better Than I Know Myself. That might give it some radio airplay because it’s getting nothing now. I listen to a Canadian top pop 40 station 90.3 amp radio. They play all the hits and they MEAN it (both Canadian and American) and they follow U.S. charts very closely. If there is new good music you hear it on that station before any other. Most of the top 40 songs are all up tempo and I wish Adam would release something like that. I think the only singer who can do anything she wants is Adele and I have even heard a remix of Someone Like You. I hope Adam’s next cd does not suffer from the sophomore slump.

When David said he was going to leave some music for his fans, I pictured some vlogs with a capella songs on them, not THE album I’ve been waiting for for 4 years.

I already ordered Forevermore and I can’t wait to hear it. Shipping isn’t too bad if you order it with other people and split the shipping.

David is such an incredible artist who’s the whole package! Talented singer, actor now, model, singer AND continues to remain grounded and an excellent role model. We need more Davids in the world today.

The first single from David’s Philippines album is the title song Forevermore. International fans in a number of countries including the US can preorder the CD through Multiply.com. If you go to the Marketplace there and search for David Archuleta you’ll find 3 Forevermore links – one for Philippines locals, and two for international orders (choose the Bulk Inquire link to buy 2-5 for one shipping price – I used that to buy 2 – you get an email with your total and purchase link). The CD is only about $10 US but the shipping is over $20. We’re hoping WOWHD (formerly CDWOW) will get the CD once its released so fans in countries where they have sites in can order it with lower shipping.
David was also filmed as leading man “Josh Bradley” in a 5-week Philippines TV5 miniseries called Nandito Ako. David also sings the soundtrack themes Nandito Ako and Wherever You Are. The series is really exciting. A lot of fighting and a lot of romance. This week Josh got slapped and was in a fist fight. It’s a great story. I sure hope they figure out a way to sell international DVD sets…
BTW if anyone want to follow David on twitter he’s @DavidArchie and sometimes he replies to a few fans (at least until he leaves on his mission). During his mission we hope either David or his family will be able to tweet occasional updates. I’m really going to miss him.
