Yes, we understand that there are five cast members of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” — the problem is that at this time Gretchen Rossi seems to be the center of the show’s universe. Most of the drama and the entertainment of season 7 is coming courtesy of her, and we have to say we really don’t mind.
During Tuesday night’s new episode of the show, here are just some of the things that we found especially entertaining.
The comedy club fallout – Gretchen’s worked pretty hard to try and smooth things over with Tamra Barney after some incidents from last season, but her boyfriend Slade Smiley managed to undo some of that good will by calling Tamra the “Michelin Man” during his cricket-inducing comedy routine from last week.
Suffice it to say, Gretchen was unhappy — she managed to not only get Slade to apologize for his actions, but promise that he would never slam her co-stars again during any comedy performances. If there are any problems with Tamra and Gretchen over it, though, the two aren’t showing them — and instead, it was Vicki Gunvalson who was offended when Slade showed up to the 1980s bash at the end of the episode (which is understandable — he did refer to her as “Miss Piggy”).
The Pussycat Dolls – Quite possibly as a way to try and earn back some brownie points, Slade informed Gretchen in the midst of the comedy club mess that she has been invited to perform at Robin Antin’s Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon in Las Vegan. See, Gretchen — dreams do come true! Of course, she was more than a little thrilled about the prospect of performing, but also understandably nervous about what the reaction to this performance will be. (Hey, it has to go better than Slade’s attempt at comedy.)
The ’80s – We’ll close with this: if you took a drink every time after Gretchen said the word “totally” in this episode, you are probably reading this article from a hospital emergency room.
Do you think that Gretchen is the star of this series at the moment, and what did you think about this episode?
