You have to remember though that this is sort of set to make a point to the middle schoolers and in that age range.
Think about how many Mayas are out there in single parent homes, are living in foster homes and so forth. They would love for a parent to come a ballgame or a show but they know it won’t happen no matter how much they wish it would. Yes, a parent seems to always use work as avoiding going to something like that.
