They seem to have laid the ground work to have Walt and Vic get together.. but he's way too old for her and I do not want to see how they combine "home & work".. Please do not turn this into a soap opera dealing with romantic interpersonal issues as a main theme. Walts character depends on certain elements of mystery and strength that evolve from his departure from close relationships after his wife died.

I love the characters of Henry, Walt, and Ferg. I didn't like Branch at first....just another pretty boy with no moral fiber....then he went nutso after being shot and his acting and facial expressions skyrocketed with talent..... baboom! I have so enjoyed watching the transition of Branch. But I do so love the Longmire show and want to see it continue. I Nix the thought of Vic and Walt together- Don't want to see sex take it down- you can find that on other shows.

In reply to <a href="https://cartermatt.com/128366/longmire-season-4-next-katee-sackhoffs-vic/#comment-136949">mlgtee</a>.

My career as a professional film editor (and the fact that I recently tossed my TV out in the trash and canceled my cable service in utter disgust as to most other programming) my experience with tV and Film should NOT have any effect on my opinion expressed here as to Vic's future character development... Full disclosure seems necessary for me here as well so let me spit it out now.

To begin with, I have to admit that Longmire is the ONE show that I have religiously watched all season (now online) and have enjoyed it immensely for many, many reasons...even more than, say The Newsroom or "True Detective' from HBO that both caught my attention last season. I agree with most of you that Vic and Walt will likely hook up in season four, although from a professional standpoint this creates significant difficulty for the script and the future of show because their characters are both not only 'professionals' working for the good of the County but there’s other folks and issued involved that may take a backseat in season 4 but somehow they will arise again when we all least expect it (recall Vic's issues with men and relationship and work from the last department she worked for in Philadelphia?) Myself having had a similar love affair with my civil attorney for the last 3 years (this while she was working on my case against Deutsche Bank) the affair started out fine and grew and made us both very happy, yet all along I/she were aware of the potential danger of mixing work and pleasure… later our love for each other and support we gained from having the right person in each of our lives that was somewhat empty for both of us before we met finally evolved into issues that neither of ever suspected would arise between us…Who us? In the end a few months ago these issues caused us to go our separate ways despite the fact that we were in love, committed, engaged to be married and really shared the deepest love for one another that at least I have ever experienced in my 60 years on the Planet. So sure, I would love to see Walt be the strong man in Vic's life as heaven knows, she needs one after her current hubby (especially now) and Walt sure could use a break from the painful task of tracking down his wife's killer while he should be grieving but now with He and Vic together…we also suspect that Walt might finally be able to truly finish his grieving and move on as all us do after something fails like a marriage (or a death?) and offer his heart afresh to another well deserving woman. Personally I think this is

a very dangerous precipice for the show to pursue…for obvious reasons, including my own love experience (expressed above) but IMHO that's why the show is exceptional, and so they may actually be able to pul it off successfully despite my misgivings…I’m also very glad that Craig Johnson, the original author of the Longmire stories (in print) is still alive, vital and way into all this still, as he's likely to get a phone call from the Producer and will be consulting heavily on Season 4 to help resolve just this very sort of issue dramatically in the script…but whatever they decide to do, the Network folks at A & E are going to be watching very closely..so that it does not all blow up their faces when what happens in any similar sort of relationship (like mine) where one is together in love but in some areas of one’s professional life it’s seen as inappropriate somehow. If this future angst between Walt and Vic somehow becomes fodder for Longmire season five it’s my opinion that the show will deteriorate as many do in this business…and devolve into another mindless dissection of yet another couple’s love story. There goes the strength and the unique character of Longmire (that we all fully appreciate today) as IMHO the show will become what we call ‘lost in the translation’ and just like other shows that have bravely had to descend into that large pile of shows in the entertainment basement of the business…I am hoping (like all of you here) for the best for Longmire…I can’t wait to see what direction they take the show next season..all I know is that I will certainly be watching from the front row..!

Vic and Branch! Kidding. Much as I'm a fan of Branch, wouldn't that be tragic! It's definitely Vic and Walt, but the challenge is creating their relationship so that it's original and not a cliche, so it's full of surprises and creative responses to situations and each other that inspire and entertain us. I miss Longmire. I adore Henry. And Cady, not Branch, needs to redeem herself since she gave up on Branch when he was (mostly) right, albeit scary. Love his character development. I want her to fall back in love with him. He's reclaimed her once, and now it's her turn.

I just don't know about the Vic + Walt scenario because all too often a good series is spoiled by the writers going overboard on the sexy scenes and totally degrading a formerly well-written series. Anyone remember how "Royal Pains" started out being quite interesting with the character development and strange disease plot lines and then just totally became a show with everyone hopping from bed to bed and nothing else?? If Vic + Walt can become a couple without the sex scenes taking over the entire show then go for it. Otherwise, figure something else out!

Vic's character has been fairly well developed with the vulnerable, high-strung person mixed with the hard ass and the all-too-human trait of "well I REALLY don't want to go out and do all that dangerous stuff but someone has to do it because Walt and Branch are off on wild goose chases"

Most definitely Branch HAS to survive. Perhaps Walt's character can be deepened by having him mentor Branch after his father tried to kill him? Or perhaps BOTH Branch and his father live (albeit with one foot on the banana peel so to speak) and Branch has to be helped through watching his father on trial for attempted murder?

I REALLY like Vic. In fact, Katee Sackhoff got me started watching Longmire. Now I can't stop watching, and have read ALL of Craig Johnson's Longmire books. GOT to have something to look forward to!!! Branch is still alive (remember which shotgun shells he was using?) but that face of his looks like a refugee from a totem pole. Cady needs to return to an exonerated Branch and go on a double date with Henry and his latest fling.

Direction for Vic: The scriptwriters have made it clear that Vic has a deep devotion to Walt. Everything she does is to protect and [jealously] guard him. And Walt REALLY needs a replacement for his wife, whom he has finally released "into the wind". The answer? Vic AND Walt. They both really need each other. By book 3, they have already made love and can't seem to stop. No reason why the TV series does not lead its viewers down the same path of discovery, only in a more family-oriented way, of course!
Cady marries Vic's brother after a Philadelphia adventure. Let's make it a "family affair" so that Vic's brother is Walt's son-in-law. Let's see...that would make a Mrs Vic Longmire Cady's sister-in-law? And Walt would be Michael Moretti's father-in-law, making....oh, heck, let the script writers figure it all out! Just make sure all us Longmire viewers (and readers) are LEFT "IN"!!!
