Man America's Got (Really White and Whiny!) Talent...
Going to vent now after the judges' decision...

And before anyone says this doesn't have anything to do with race, I agree. It's a joke. Sadly, all the other melodrama brought to this show by the producers and the often clueless judges is a reality. This show should be about talent and not about kiddie sob stories and cute boys who sing average at best or completely besides the point social commentary about a guy dancing with a guy or overly long features centered on a once upon a time orphan who clearly is far, far more fortunate than a great many children still "blessed" with their alcoholic, violent biological parents...but I, like the judges, digress...

Quite honestly there have been students at my school who easily sing as well as Mara Justine or Jaycob Curlee, but I doubt anyone at my school could come close to hitting the notes that either member of Acte II can. Bad song choice, sure. But much worst judge's choice. Put it another way: are there already other (and frankly much better) female and male pop singers in the semifinals? Yes, their names are Emily West and Miguel Dakota, respectively. There is no other act remotely like Acte II on the show now, though, and that saddens me. And not one judge even thought about that evidently? It's not a coincidence that NO pop singer on this show, no matter how far they have gone, has ever made a real dent after the show and none will this year either. That's because none of these singers would even make it to the live shows on American Idol or The Voice, despite the over the top praise heaped upon them by four judges who know little to nothing about singing. When the most accomplished musical performer on the panel is a Spice Girl, it's far from being a musically savvy panel. (And I love the Spice Girls, but not because they were fantastic singers!) The only truly successful singer to emerge from this show was Jackie Evancho - and she's neither a pop singer nor someone who got through via the wisdom of judges. (She was the YouTube viewers' contestant and then one of America as a whole's choices.) And maybe Butterscotch, but she's a beatboxer/jazz singer/multi-instrumentalist. Again, not a pop singer with skills that are meh when compared to pop singers currently on the charts. Anyway, maybe Acte II can take heart from Stirling and parlay this gig into something better than playing bad nightclubs.Lord knows, none of the pop singers on this show have ever been able to.

As upsetting as Jaycob Curlee's life was, he should not have went through. His performance last night was just not strong enough in my opinion. He completely abandoned the guitar and probably lip synced through half the song. If he wins the million with more performances like this, they'd be wasting the big check.
