I liked the old writters more. They were more focused on the minds of the criminals, and less on their methods. Giant spiders belong to low budget horror movies. Now the weirder the crime, the better. There was something in the earlier stories that really got you scared because it made you realise it was possible to be a target. Now some cases are ridiculous, but this spoiler takes the cake.
