‘American Idol’ alum Haley Reinhart shooting ‘Free’ music video

The single’s on its way.

While we may still have to wait until March 20 to get a first listen of Haley Reinhart’s first single “Free,” we can at least confirm that the former “American Idol” star is in the process of making the music video for the track.

Haley posted the picture to the left on her Twitter account Friday, and she also added the following caption to it:

“I can’t believe this day has finally come! Shooting my first music video!”

Haley has already performed the show at an event for radio station 104.3 MYfm at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood — you can hear that version below, but be cautioned that the sound in the studio version is likely to be different than the arrangement heard here.

As for her promotional future with the song, we know that Haley is going to be on the March 27 episode of “90210,” and we’re still pulling for a performance on “Idol” at some point during season 11. (The show has already confirmed that fellow former contestants — including winner Scotty McCreery, runner-up Lauren Alaina, and 4th-place-finisher James Durbin — are all expected to appear and possibly perform at some point over the coming months.) While some of the judges (we’re looking at you, J.Lo!) weren’t always kind to Haley during her time on the show, she clearly developed one of the most passionate fanbases over the weeks in which she performed.

There’s no confirmed premiere date yet for the video, but we would anticipate it hitting the internet in the weeks following the release of the single itself.
