Fans were over the moon excited when they heard that Jessica Lange had signed back on for season two of FX’s hit show ‘American Horror Story’, and now that the cat is out of the bag, co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are ready to dish on what fans can expect out of Jessica next season.
Lange won a Screen Actors Guild Award as well as a Golden Globe for her role as Constance Langdon in ‘American Horror Story’, so it wasn’t too much of a surprise when we heard the creators wanted to have her back in season two. Murphy spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Lange’s return and revealed that she will not be reprising her role as Langdon in the upcoming season. Jessica will be taking on a completely new character and the story line for season two will revolve around her new role. Murphy said;
“Last year Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend. I really sweated this negotiation, so I’m glad she is firmly on board.”
Murphy also revealed that there are three other actors from season 1 of ‘American Horror Story’ that will be returning for season two. The three returning cast members will be announced on Friday when the creators and the cast are at the PaleyFest in Beverly Hills on Friday. Season two will take place on the East Coast and will be set in an institution – other than that Murphy is keeping the juicer details under lock and key for now.
