In reply to scafmars. Silent clock doesn't always signify death. Check out End of Season 2, End of season 6, end of the redemption movie. Renee walker being buried alive etc.

Silent clock at the end of the hour or not – as long as Jack isn’t SEEN to be killed, there’s room for him to come back. Like Tony did. It’s such an interesting character, he’s been allowed to develop so much over the seasons, and I can’t help feeling that there’s much more you can get out of him. So I really hope he will come back, with Chloe, Belchek and Kate in tow ;-)

It signified that it’s a teaser. They left it open for jack to return. He’s not dead. They’re in talks to bring the show back. Hence the no clock noise. It’s a what happens now teaser.

Jack Bauer died. When the final closing sequence showed the clock there was no sound. Just like when Audrey died, they didn’t have the sound, because that’s how the show confirms that the character is dead. It signified that Jack was going to die in Russia.

Jack got the silent clock at the end of the episode. Is that significant or does that happen at the end of every season? In other words, does the silent clock imply the Russians killed him?
