‘Dancing with the Stars’: Jaleel White, Gladys Knight part of cast

Here’s the cast.

Rather than airing the “Dancing with the Stars” casting announcement (as per the recent trend) on “The Bachelor” or one of its other shows, ABC opted instead to force everyone to wake up early and turn on their TV sets. The cast (which actually was kept fairly under wraps for quite a while) was unveiled on “Good Morning America,” and it contained the typical mix of movie stars, athletes, and other names.

Here are the teams that you can expect in the ballroom when the show returns on March 19.

Jack Wagner – The actor / singer is best known for “Melrose Place.” Partnered with Anna Trebunskaya.

Melissa Gilbert – Star of “Little House on the Prairie,” and she also used to be the president of the Screen Actors Guild. Maksim Chmerkovskiy is returning to be her partner!

Donald Driver – Out of all the football players, we didn’t see Donald Driver being the one who showed up. Peta Murgatroyd is getting a chance to recover from the Metta World Peace disaster of it.

William Levy – He appeared in Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Into You” music video, and he’s a tele-novela star. That’s really it. He wasn’t present for the announcement, but will be working with Cheryl Burke.

Sherri Sherpherd – One of the ladies from “The View,” and she has also appeared on a variety of shows. Sherri has Val Chmerkovskiy.

Katherine Jenkins – Acclaimed opera singer, who actually performed back on season 12 on the show. Katherine will be paired with Mark Ballas.

Gavin DeGraw – Singer of “I Don’t Wanna Be,” and he also has the pleasure of working with reigning champ Karina Smirnoff.

Martina Navratilova – Tennis legend and “cultural icon” — which is quite a bit to say, since we really don’t have much of an idea who she is. Tony Dovolani is her partner.

Roshon Fegan – Star of “Shake It Up,” and young hip-hop artist. Roshon is also getting to work with Chelsie Hightower — who is returning to the show after a year off.

Maria Menounos – Mario Lopez’s “Extra” co-host. Derek Hough continued his tradition of receiving a partner with some rather strong potential.

Jaleel White – Steve Urkel returns! Jaleel has also appeared on a variety of other TV shows as well as Cee Lo Green’s music video for “Cry Baby.” Jaleel is going to be spending plenty of time with former champ Kym Johnson.

Gladys Knight – Legendary singer, who is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Pips. Gladys is working with none other than Tristan MacManus — who worked with Nancy Grace last year.

As for the only notable omissions from the list this year when it comes to pros, we are a bit surprised to see no Louis Van Amstel or Lacey Schwimmer this time around.

Ultimately, we can’t say we’re too thrilled about this cast. Many of the rumors out there turned out to be too ambitious, and there’s no one on here that is going to get people talking this time around. Surprisingly, there also are not any reality personalities that have been included in the mix this time.

What do you think about this cast?
