As the CW closes in on its filming start date for the highly anticipated new series ‘The Carrie Diaries’, fans have been wondering when and who they were going to cast in the iconic role of a young Carrie Bradshaw.
The producers have finally chosen a Carrie for the ‘Sex and the City’ prequel and the actress that scored the role is AnnaSophia Robb. If you are unfamiliar with Robb’s work, take a peek at Tim Burton’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. She also starred in ‘Soul Surfer’, ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ and will be playing Wendy in a remake of the film ‘Peter Pan’.
Robb has some big Manolo Blahniks to fill now that Sarah Jessica Parker has become such an icon after the incredible success of the HBO series ‘Sex and the City’, but if anyone has a good shot at making the fans proud it’s likely going to be Robb.
Stefania Owen (Running Wilde) has been cast as Carrie’s 14 year old sister, who is a bit of a wild child in an attempt to garner attention from anyone willing to pay any notice.
While ‘Sex and the City’ fans are unlikely to tune in to ‘The Carrie Diaries’ due to the content and the lack of Sarah Jessica Parker, with the right cast and a little bit of luck, the CW might be able to create a whole new set of Carrie Bradshaw fans who will later discover the joys of HBO’s ‘Sex and the City’.
