I don’t recall the shape shifting option but if that’s how they wrote it, works for me. Kinda cheats though. By this point you make, there would be a coyote alpha out there that turned her then…so back to confused ;p.

Remember the Kanima? “The shape you take reflects the person you are” (said by Derek) that’s why Kate is a Jaguar. Which is also why Malia is a Coyote and not a wolf like her father, Peter.

Turning by scratch only works if the “Claws go deep enough” (Said be Chris Argent in S1). That’s beside the point though, Stiles definitely won’t turn because Malia isn’t an Alpha, only an Alpha can turn someone into a Werewolf.

Derek isn’t an Alpha anymore and he certainly wasn’t one at the age he was turned into so he can’t turn anyone else into a werewolf, Deaton might not heal from the scratch but he can’t turn.

First, we have the big question over how Kate turned at all, which was through Peter’s scratch, not a bite. But Peter’s a wolf so why did Kate, who was human, turn into a jaguar or whatever? What’s that about?

So now we have confirmation you can be turned by a scratch, we have:

1. Styles telling Scott about Malia showing up in his bed and having a rough go which he affirmed by lifting up his shirt and showing Scott what his back looked like. We know that Malia scratched him all up, so can we expect Styles to end up a Coyote, part of Malia’s own pack?

2. Seth Gilliam has been cast on The Walking Dead – is he leaving Teen Wolf? Deaton also got gouged pretty hard when young Derek came to and turned…so will Deaton end up a wolf? Is he already something?
