When you have an actor on board your show with both an Emmy and Golden Globe to his name, you should probably try to utilize him as much as humanly possible. Luckily, “Game of Thrones” is doing just that with their new trailer released this weekend to HBO GO subscribers. (Luckily, you can also see it now below.)
Peter Dinklage shrewd character of Tyrion Lannister is all over this trailer, as he tries to use his new position of Hand of the King to manipulate the battle that is going on for the throne with Stannis, Dany, and of course his own family. Tyrion is one of the few Lannisters smart enough to actually realize how much of a pawn King Joffrey really is, and this is going to be just one key plot point that is brought out when the work of George R.R. Martin returns to HBO on April 1.
Of course, there will also be one other aspect to the series that is shown off in great splendor — war. Expect to see battles in the streets, beyond the Wall, and even at sea this time around courtesy of all the factions at play.
We can really just tell one thing above all else by looking at this trailer — we are in for a wild ride. Just how popular has this show become? The first official trailer for season 1 (which debuted in January) ended up setting viewership records for the premium cable outlet online — and even though season 1 did not necessarily pick up record ratings, it did build its audience week to week, and is also set to reap the benefits of internet and DVD viewing.
