‘The Walking Dead’ casts David Morrissey as The Governor

The Governor is coming

With the incredible success of the first and second season of the ‘The Walking Dead’ it was no surprise to anyone that AMC picked the show up for a third season and with filming starting up in just a few months the producers have begun casting a few of the key roles.

Since the start of the series the main adversary that our heroes have been fighting has been the walkers and not other groups of survivors – most of the people our heroes have run into (besides Merle who disappeared episode two) have been kind and helpful, not the most likely scenario for a post apocalyptic world filled with zombies –  however AMC is bringing in the most feared villain from ‘The Walking Dead’ comic, The Governor and everything will go from bad to worse for our heroes.

AMC has cast British actor David Morrissey (Doctor Who, Red Riding trilogy) as The Governor who will appear in the third season.  Fans have long speculated on who would be playing the role with names like John Hawkes being thrown around.  Special effects God Tom Savini had been campaigning to get the role as well, largely due to his resemblance to the character in the comic book.

The third season of ‘The Walking Dead’ will begin film in Atlanta this spring and will be 16 episodes long.

Do you think that Morrissey will be good in the role of The Governor, or is there someone else you think could do a better job?  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
