Paula Abdul fires back at the newest ‘X Factor’ gossip, still loves Simon Cowell

The majority of this group is getting replaced.

Tabloids, we get it — the departure of Paula Abdul from “The X Factor” was amicable, and you’re now trying to stir up some sort of trouble where there is none.

Case in point — the newest rumor floating around the internet that Abdul is secretly furious about getting dismissed from the show after one season, in a move that was really just brought about due to concerns from executives that Simon Cowell’s new show was still too similar to the “American Idol” of old. It was not a decision that Cowell even necessarily wanted to make due to his personal connections, and he and Paula have said since that there is no bad blood between either of them.

However, none of this stopped the new rumor from coming out, and Abdul responded to it this time with a series of posts via Twitter:

“Looks like the gossip mills are churning out a steady stream of fiction about me …┬áTruth is, I parted ways amicably & remain friends w/ Fremantle, Fox & Simon. Just saw all my Fox friends the other day! … I know it’s boring & under-whelming, but hey, the truth usually is.”

As for who will end up ultimately being the replacement for Paula and the also-departed Nicole Scheringer, it’s still unclear. The current favorite (at least in Cowell’s mind) for the gig appear to be Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, and / or Pink for the two spots. While Katy seems to be far too busy for this show, both Pink and Janet do seem to be solid choices (even though we have some concerns that the latter could end up being overly nice — which is what dooms many judges on reality shows these days). LeAnn Rimes has expressed an interest in the job, but there is no word on if producers actually want her. (It seems unlikely, mostly because she is not too popular outside of her fan base thanks to her personal life.) Fergie and “X Factor” UK judge Kelly Rowland have also been brought up as possibilities here and there.

There should be a decision made on the replacement judges as well as the hosting gig (which could be done by two people this fall) by the end of next month, and we will continue to have as many updates as possible when it comes to who could be jumping on board the re-tooled show moving forward.
