‘America’s Next Top Model’ creator Tyra Banks has already proven to the world that she can do it all with her hit television series, her modeling and music career and let’s not forget that she’s also a published author, but now the style mogul will have another notch to add to her belt – Harvard Business School graduate.
Banks recently sat down with Harvard’s school newspaper, ‘The Harbus’, and explained why she decided to enroll in the ‘Owner/Partnership Management Program’ even though she has done quite well for herself without a Harvard degree. She said;
“There’s a difference between a career and a business. I’m not looking to build a company based on fans.”
The model turned entrepreneur hopes that Harvard will give her the skills she needs to run a strategic operation that doesn’t heavily rely on her star power, so that her business will have longevity. Banks also admitted to the paper that her hard as nails persona on ‘America’s Next Top Model’ is not something that always transfers into real life. She said;
“[I] would love to have her in the boardroom. I wish I was hard…I have armor, but a strategic knife can still get in those creases.”
Tyra is nearing the end of her Harvard Business School education and has some advice for other students that are just getting into the game. She said;
“It’s okay to be vulnerable. Things don’t always have to be perfect. Don’t chase the money, even if you want to be a banker. Chase the passion. Chase the dream.”
The season premiere of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ will be airing on Wednesday, February 29 at 9 p.m. on the CW.
