‘American Idol’s’ Haley Reinhart dishes on debut album (Video)

Haley is stronger because of Idol

Since leaving ‘American Idol’ Haley Reinhart has been hard at work to make sure her debut album ready for release and while we know that her first single from the CD called ‘Free’ will be released sometime in March, Reinhart hasn’t revealed much more about the album – until now.

In a new interview with Yahoo, Haley took some time to update fans on when they can expect to get their hands on a copy of her album, how being an ‘American ldol’ underdog actually helped her grow stronger and what type of music will she be focusing on for her CD. When it comes to her album, Haley said that it will be available in music stores this May.  She said;

“The album, you can expect it to be around sometime in May and now I’m doing all the fun stuff, the video and the shoots.  Things are really taking off.”

When it comes to the type of music fans can expect to hear on the album Haley says that she put a little bit of everything on there, but to be rest assured that it all comes together in a fun cohesive way that everyone will enjoy.  Haley said;

“So I was really really lucky to be given the chance to actually be hands on with the entire process, the whole writing process. ‘Free’ is actually the only one that I haven’t co-written for the album, the rest I’ve been slaving away in the studio all over the city with different co-writers and producers and it’s got the sound that I think I can only define as my own. I have R & B soul, I have Rock, hints of Jazz, hints of funk, so there’s a lot of things represented, but it all really comes together.”

“It feels great to already have the respect as an artist from day one and I truly feel that it’s because I went in knowing what I wanted and letting them know that ‘hey I want to be a true artist, I want to be creative’ that’s who I’ve been my whole life why change anything now.”

As fans of Haley know, she was criticized by the ‘American Idol‘ judges more than other contestant on the show and rarely got the praised that she deserved, but in the end Haley feels that it helped her grow as a person and a musician.  She said;

“I gained an extra nine layers of skin and I grew stronger and I get to take all that with me and I’m going to need it now because things will get tough and it’s always climbing up that mountain, so I’m taking this experience  in the greatest light possible and through all the harder times, the judges did give me some good stuff in there and it’s been an unbelievable whirlwind.”
