For a long time rumors swirled around the idea of Mariah Carey joining the judging panel, but Simon Cowell has finally squashed that idea, saying no matter how much he may want her to be on the show, she would not be able to give the time commitment needed because of her obligations to her family and her own music career, so she’s not on the list.
Another ridiculous judging rumor was that Cowell had offered Beyonce $100 million to join the ‘X Factor’. Simon said that there’s absolutely no truth to that one and that the budget for the show itself is $100 million let alone a salary for Beyonce. Cowell has also thrown around names like Katy Perry and Pink, but they are so current at the moment that he may not be able to land them for the show.
Now there are new rumors that Janet Jackson might be joining the judging panel after a revealing interview with Anderson Cooper, set to air on Monday. Cooper asked Jackson if she was going to be a judge on the ‘X Factor’ and she said “oh my god” and started to laugh as she dodged the question. She finally said; “No I’m not a judge on the X Factor.”
Cooper, not one to let her awkward answer go unnoticed, asked the question a little more carefully, saying; “you’re not currently a judge on the ‘X Factor’” to which Janet responded by saying; “No, I am not, but that’s all I really think I should say.” Anderson then replied with “All right we’ll leave it with that. Intriguing”.
What is kind of interesting about the whole firing/hiring situation on ‘X Factor’ is that while everyone seems to be concerned about who will be a judge, no one seems to be talking about who will be the host and when you see how important people like Ryan Seacrest and Nick Cannon are to the flow and feel of the show, it’s strange that there is no real focus on that aspect of the program.
Do you think that Janet Jackson would be a great replacement on the X Factor judging panel? Who would you like to see on the panel? Leave us a comment and let us know.
