Last week’s episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ really shook things up as we saw a spark of romance between Klaus and Caroline and Damon reverting back to his old ways after Elena rejected his love. With Damon’s hook up with Rebekah, just a few hours after she tries to end Elena’s life and the Originals all roaming free, what is in store for the good people of Mystic Falls tonight?
In tonight’s episode called ‘All My Children’ Elena heads over to the Salvatore brother’s home and is upset (and jealous) to find Rebekah in Damon’s bed. It’s difficult to feel a lot of empathy towards Elena after the way she treated Damon in the bar, and she can’t exactly expect Damon to continue to wait for her when she may never come around, but fans are still holding out hope for these two. Executive Producer Julie Plec explains;
“Elena is going to be pissed on multiple levels, but she also understands that, in a way, she sort of pulled the trigger on that. Damon has every right to be angry with her as well, and a lot of people are going to continue to be angry with each other as this unfolds in the next episode.”
In the past when Damon doesn’t get his way he would go on a feeding spree leaving a fairly large body count behind him, but his character has evolved and found other ways to get out his anger while striking back at the person who hurt him. Plec said;
“The thing with Damon is, as we’ve seen, when he’s hurt, he lashes out, and in a way, this is the most cruel way he could have lashed out, but it also shows a peculiar evolution in him as a character. Rather than take it out on an innocent person on the road, he’s striking where it hurts the most, very specifically, [for] Elena. By no means is it gentlemanly behavior, but certainly it was fun to watch.”
While viewers have learned a lot about Stefan over the years, we still have quite a bit to learn about Damon as his life between 1964 and 2009 remains to be fleshed out. When ‘The Vampire Diaries’ returns in March fans will get a chance to meet Sage, a vampire who influenced Damon to become the man he is today. Plec explains;
“I haven’t seen [her episode], I’ve only heard that she’s awesome. Cassidy Freeman’s character is a vampire that we’ll meet in our 16th episode, which is the first episode in March back. The episode is called ‘1912’ and it’s timed about 100 years ago… when Damon was still the Damon that walked out the door in a huff of disappointment and piousness when his brother was out of control in 1864. Somewhere between 1864 and the pilot episode Damon became the Damon that we know and love. This episode kind of gives us a little glimpse into that and what this character Sage had to do with it.”
A new episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ will be airing tonight at 8 p.m. on the CW. Check out the sneak peek of the ‘All My Children’ episode below and let us know what you think.
