We first heard earlier this week that the end is near for “House” — and now, we know just when the doctor will take his final patient.
Fox announced on Friday that the series finale, which is going to culminate an eight-week run of new episodes, will air on Monday, May 21. There’s no word yet of whether it will play out as a single episode or be extended in any way.
One other element of mystery here is that we are still unsure if any past stars of the series will be returning. Since our post from earlier this week, the odds of Lisa Edelstein coming back seem to be decreasing thanks to both a limited time to film the spot and her own busy schedule. Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde still seems likely based on her own comments from her past about an interest in returning for one final go as Thirteen.
As for another past name to potentially throw into the mix here, Jennifer Morrison has said plenty of positive things about her experience on the show since leaving — but her biggest problem with coming back is simply going to be getting permission from ABC (where she is under contract thanks to “Once Upon a Time”) along with finding the time to make this happen if they give her a stamp of approval.
for those curious, Fox also confirmed Friday that “Bones” will return to finish out its season on Thursday, April 5.
